Great Astrobiology Rap
September 30th, 2008
A lot of people enjoyed the LHC rap that did the rounds a few weeks ago, but let’s face it – novelty factor aside, it was pretty dire. Thank goodness then for Jonathan Chase, AKA Oort Kuiper, the 28-year-old postgraduate responsible for the brilliant ‘Astrobiology’. Soon to complete an MSc in Science Comms from the University of Glamorgan, Chase performed at the London Science Museum earlier last week. He says about ‘Astrobiology’:
The YouTube rap was for Astrobiology Magazine European Edition. The producer heard me rap and liked what i could do. The suggestion was made that I do one for the mag as an alternative way of communicating scientific information. So i wrote the rap, got some of my producer mates’ tunes and recorded. Then I obtained a camera and planned the video, shooting and editing it myself . I stopped everything else for a few weeks to concentrate on it all; then posted it on Youtube.
Well done you, sir!
