A Festival of Ann Walker (Pt. 5)
June 20th, 2007
Over at Science and Progress, the very clever Coracle casts a critical eye over some of Ann Walker’s claims. After analysing the evidence for the use of chondroitin to combat pain from osteoathritis, and finding nothing, we’re shown that Echinacea is not only useless at combatting common colds and upper respiratory tract infections, but it may actually be harmful in some situations. Eat that, herbalists!

Too kind!
I don’t know that I’d describe the evidence for G&C as nothing, a very tentative maybe and the old get-out; more research needed. Certainly not the ‘overwhelming’ that AW used. Echinacea certainly is nothing though.
nterestingly, googling for “Dr Ann Walker” now returns some interesting hits, with Badscience and Quackometer in positions 4 and 6 respectively.
