Yeah, but think of all the money you could save. We could completely dispense with health care worldwide, and then we'd just have robust, healthy, highly evolved folk.

Alicia: I liked you more before you endorsed Nazi-style Social Darwinism. That was probably the most distasteful comment I've ever had on this site.

anybody ever heard of survival of the fittest? because this is a prime example of it and I for one, believe that if the kids, or adults for that matter, die from ANY disease, then SO WHAT, because HUMANS ARE SUPPOSED TO DIE! The ones that DO live through childhood diseases and such, are the strong ones, and thus they become the ones that are successful at breeding a new stock of healthy humans . BUT, not ALL of us are supposed to make it to adulthood and we're using up the limited resources of the Earth with our ever increasing population that we have to "save" from disease. How dumb. You can't "Save" anybody from death.

"Another point to consider; If one of these parents child dies (of measles), should it be handled in the courts? If so, how - Accidental death, unlawful killing, lawful killing, natural causes?"

Moreover, shouldn't the people responsible for the fear-mongering that has led to an increase in measles cases (*cough* Wakefield et al. *cough*) be held to some kind of accountability? Surely they are far more responsible than parents taken in by their spin? That's something I'd like to see; scaremongers forced to explain their position in court.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Fumento" rel="nofollow">Michael Fumento</a> has written to me to say that <a href="http://www.fumento.com/disease/thimerosal.html" rel="nofollow">he also covered this topic recently</a>. Which I'm sure will send the conspiracy theorists among you wild.

So the parents who consider themselves more qualified than doctors change their child's (probably)inherent 1:1000 chance of dying from SIDS into an overall 1:500 chance of death - well done! Could this be a modern form of natural selection?
